Sculpt - Alien Bust

Been working on my ZBrush/Sculpting skills after a while and finally got around to rendering this guy. I used a somewhat old Zbrush beginner tutorial by Wayne Robon. There are a few artifacts around the front of the shoulders mostly due to the poor topology & UVs of the sculpt, the normal map wasn't the best. But this was more of a sculpt study and a small shader study, I applied a MR SSS skin shader and had a little play with that.

Spit paints

I've been a bit lazy with posting any work, but here are some rough pieces I've done over the last few months, topics are from the spit paint facebook group. The time limit for most are 30-40mins, some a little longer. My focus was to get idea's out quickly and to convey a feeling rather than a finished piece so there are many failed attempts and some slightly more interesting ones. Still getting used to blocking areas in, getting lighting right and just finding a good work flow.
Some paintings were strongly influenced by reference images to try and understand lighting and colour better.

Practicing Head Sculptures

Trying to improve my modelling/sculpting skills. Focusing on heads here, I started by referencing a skull image and learning the anatomy and then expand from there adding the facial features. Still getting used to the program as well, but these were still really fun to do. (I don't know how to do eye's yet, still figuring that one out...)

Speed attempts

A few quick paintings, each between 30-45mins just to keep myself painting and to see how well I can develop an idea in a short amount of time. Getting it all, lighting, composition, interesting subject matter, etc into an image in a short amount of time is pretty difficult but here are my attempts.

One way - finger painting... On my phone!

Did this sketch while on the train and on my phone with my fanger! I used the AutoDesk SketchBookX app which is pretty cool. I got the idea from the 'Framed ink' book, I think there is an image in it similar to this.
